About The Barony
The Barony is one of Edinburgh's last truly independent bars. The venue first opened as a drinks merchant in 1896, before becoming a pub - and it has been a staple of the Edinburgh drinks scene ever since.
We took over management of The Barony a couple of years ago, and wanted to continue the tradition of providing great drinks and warm hospitality in the heart of Edinburgh. When you visit, you'll see we've kept all the original Victorian features, including real fireplaces, brewery mirrors, hand-painted 19th century tiles and the beautiful wooden bar.
Loved by locals and visitors alike, The Barony has become well known for its delicious, freshly-prepared gastropub menu. We pride ourselves on creating modern versions of classic pub dishes, as well as lots of mouthwatering seasonal specials. Expect plenty of local seafood, meat and veg, alongside tried-and-tested favourites like our famous mac & cheese and steak pies.
We're also very proud of our drinks menu, which features local ales, single malts, craft gins and a hand-picked selection of amazing wines from across the world.
The Barony is also a dog-friendly pub, and we have a full license for children up to 10pm - everyone's welcome!
